'Synaesthesia' interactive artwork

October 26, 2012

Client: SHOWstudioImagery: Nick Knight Interaction / Programming: Daniel Brown Role: Music / Sound Design

Originally an online experience, commissioned by SHOWStudio, “Synaesthesia” is an interactive artwork aimed at investigating the phenomenon of synaesthesia - a condition where two or more senses become mixed.

The project was a collaboration with fashion photographer Nick Knight and digital artist Daniel Brown and was featured in SHOWstudio’s FASHION REVOLUTION exhibition at Somerset House in London, 17 September - 20 December 2009 and shown as an installation at The Death of Taste festival, Vienna the same year.

The piece allows the viewer/listener to explore a still image of Gemma Ward wearing Balenciaga to reveal sonic and visual synaesthetic interpretations of different areas of texture and form.

The interactive piece itself can be viewed here
